Friends Lost

Friends Lost is a project with a heavy focus on storytelling. I really enjoy creating organic environments and wanted to get better at highlighting a narrative within my scenes. I worked with Chris Radsby to really nail scene composition, color theory, and lighting techniques, all to serve the hierarchy of narrative in environment art.

All of the assets are original (game ready) and were built with 3ds Max and textured with Substance Painter + Designer. The main tree was created entirely from scratch and I learned a lot of neat tricks on how to get tree canopies to light properly inside of Unreal Engine. The main trunk works with vertex painting between moss and bark textures, similarly to the landscape shader. The greenhouse walls were built to be modular in 3ds Max, and all foliage was sculpted in Zbrush and textured in Substance Painter + Designer.
